OK, I want to say that I get such a thrill out of doing this contest and that reading the up and comers reminds me how I was in that position once myself. I will not forget how difficult it is to both get started in REI as well as how much dedication it takes to turn a negative profit business to profitable again. I NEED YOUR HELP!
WE HAD ALMOST A VIRTUAL TIE FOR 2nd and 3rd; separated by only 0.2pts. This is a contest that is put up entirely by the DG family, NOT Dean, not his companies, not the coaches, but US here. I do not want to put the burden on Dean to come up with exorbitant amounts towards this contest when he already gives us so much of himself and his time.
If we can raise $5K for this, our 3rd place winner will get to goto the EDGE. We are at about $1100. We need about $3900. That is 390 more donators at $10 each **OR** if you have $20 to donate, that is only 185 people donating. Also, if we raise the $5000, we can do the contest again next year. Please, if you are able, contribute. If you are in a position where this isn't possible at all, it is totally understandable. But basically, do we, as the DG family, want to be able to pay it forward to the new up and comers? Won't you consider a donation of any amount today? Thank you so much for listening!!!!

Last year, James Kendrick ran a contest for people to WIN a chance to goto the Edge. This year I thought I'd start the thread!
First, we need for DGers who are out there making it happen to donate to the cause. Who's ever up for it, you can either email me with your donation amount or put it right here on this thread. No amount is too small or big 
The EDGE is an AWESOME learning opportunity. But, probably even more, its a great NETWORKING tool and an experience that can't be replicated.
Secondly, we need judges to vote on essays. To become a judge you need to be an active contributor to the sight and/or have done at least 4 deals. (both sides of the deals count). Please contact me at EDGE2012Contest at gmail dot com. Please, NO PMs about this. (I am not very good at organizing my PMs on this site).
Pay attention to this closely. Third, to enter the contest you will have to do 2 things. Write an essay that will convince the judges that YOU should be one of the person's chosen to goto the EDGE event. Second, you must be open to any of the judges contacting you either via email or phone. There will be 2 winners; more if there are more contributions to the cause. You also must be able to get to the EDGE and pay for lodging, as well as be able to make it on the days of the EDGE event (April 27-29). It is not required that you've completed a deal yet. Follow the directions carefully.
--Your essay should be kept more than 400 words, but kept under 1000 words and be about why we should choose YOU to goto the EDGE.
--You must also have filled out your entire DG profile and told us a little about yourself in your profile.
--You must include your name, your contact information (phone and email), your time zone, and your DG screen name at the beginning of your essay as a cover page.
--The title of your essay should be 'Gain the EDGE 2012 Essay, YOUR DG NAME', listed on your cover page.
--Pages, if you should go over 1, need to be numbered.
--You should post to this thread after you've sent your essay.
--Your essay should answer the following questions for the judges:
***Why you want to goto the EDGE?
***What REI means to you
***What will you do if you fail at any time?
***What you think it takes to be successful in REI?
***What will you do with the information you get at the Edge?
***What are you doing now and what have you done so far to build your REI?
Essays should be sent to/evaluators should contact me at EDGE2012Contest at gmail dot com. EVERYONE has a chance to win this! We look forward to reading your essays! The deadline to receive essays will be FEBRUARY 29th; and we will narrow it to 6 finalists. Good luck everyone!

Here's what I did - steps I took to send my donations:
Go to the Paypal Secure site :
https://www.paypal.com/
1) Then at the bottom of the page, you will see three columns,
"Pay Online" "Send Money" "Get Paid"
2) Click the "Send Money" tab
3) Then on the right side of the screen, you will see
STEP ONE SCREEN
"Send Money Now:"
"I'm paying someone in"(make sure it is in United States! LOL) It defaults to the U.S.
"Amount" and "Currency"
(Type in your donation amount)
in US Dollars
"My payment is for
__ Friends and Family
__ Buying Something
__ Buying Something with a Cash Advance
4) Click "Friends and Family"
5) Click "continue"
STEP TWO SCREEN
6) To: (your recipient's email address)
7) From: (your email address, use the email that you use at DG . com so it will be easier for them to know the donation is from you)
STEP THREE SCREEN
You will see this:
"You are sending $YOUR-DONATION-AMOUNT.00 USD to YOUR RECIPIENTS EMAIL ADDRESS for Gift.:
""Enter the following information for billing and to create your PayPal account. "(if you have a paypal account, you can just log on to your paypal account on the STEP THREE SCREEN - there's a log-in page there on the right side of the screen)
"Country or region"
"Email address"
And then other fields you need to fill in to send the donation and at the same time create a paypal account. After you have completed the transaction, you and the recipient will receive an email confirmation from paypal (that also serves as your electronic receipt)
I used paypal to send my donations. It's quicker! I hope this helps!

1.) Copy the new PayPal email from the post above.
2.) Then log into PayPal.
3.) On your home screen click the tab titled "Send Money".
4.) On that page, paste the email you copied above into the field titled, "To (email or phone number).
5.) Then type in the amount you want to donate.
6.) Then click the tab that is title "Personal"
7.) Make sure the option for "Gift" is selected.
8.) Then click "Continue" and follow the rest of the on screen prompts.
That should be it.

I just wanted to say DG family this is so caring and so thoughtfull of you all. You have no idea how much it means to us newbies to know that we could have an opportunity to be present at this event next to such successfull investors who started at the same place I am now. I am in tears just reading all of the people commited to helping others wow! I cant sleep at night now thinking I am going to miss something that one of the DG family members might say to give me new ideas. I wake up every morning make my cup of coffee and sign in to see what motivating comments or stories will get me through that day. I go through all of the web videos over and over again trying to follow every step to build a buyers list and sellers list and get my first break. I want to do my first deal so bad I can taste it. I cant wait to see if the contest will take place again next year and possibly have the opportunity to meet such amazing people. The energy and commitment coupled with enthusiasm can be felt through the comments. I can only imagine in person! Wow!
