Placing Bandit Signs : Is it illegal and how do you avoid being fined?

Don't you just love that name Bandit Signs. LOL! It makes you feel like a bandit when you are putting them up. LOL!

I see these signs all over the place in the more rural areas. They are way up high on the telephone poles thanks to the invention called The Bandit Sign Stapler. ( google that name).

Seems like in rural areas they don't really care or don't offer to bother you. In the more metropolitan areas they do care. Most people put a cell phone number on their bandit signs because they are not traceable. I have seen signs with 1-800 number and a recorded call...they are not traceable.

I've felt the same in the beginning, but I've had good mentors.
Honestly the best way I've found to keep from getting in trouble is

1) Play stupid. If a cop ever pulls beside you threatening to fine
you, just say your sorry and you didn't know because you always see garage sale signs out. Then take some down.. for the time being.

2) Pre Paid Cell phone. Place the number you get from that and you'll be a
real bandit. (he-he-he) besides it being non traceable you'll feel more comfortable about your privacy when getting calls.

All states have ordinances, it's just a matter of enforcing those laws.
If you see signs up, they're not too strict then.

yes I saw the eddie case video already. I also get up at 3am in the morning to place my signs out so that I can avoid being seen by the cops.

I use bandit signs heavily in my market. It's definately where I get the most leads driven from. Yes, I've had some not touched for 6 months and some removed overnight. Every city/county has their ordinances/restricts, etc. I do them late in the evening to advoid traffic or either very early a.m., etc. But I'm fairly confident that if you were in violation, you'd be instructed to remove or issued a warning first. I don't think you'd go to bandit sign jail. hehe! If so, save me a spot. I had to laugh....pictured you sitting beside a burgular or something and he goes "what are you in for" and you reply..."got caught putting out a sign" HAHA!!

If I 'think' that they will probably be removed immediately, I take the risk of putting them out when I get the most bang for my buck. Like putting them at Wal-Mart entrances late Thursday night for payday shoppers on Friday/weekend traffic. If nothing else, I get 24-48 hrs. exposure off it. lol

Up at 3 to put out signs! That shows commitment my friend! Keep on keeping on!!!

LOL, you do feel like a bandit putting out the signs. Thats funny. I dislike it to but beleive me they work. I have never got a call from the police but rather city council members and I just tell them I will have them removed and dont really go remove and it has been dropped from there. Never heard from them again. Hope that helps.

I love the Eddie Case video! That is very creative and will also deter your competition from puling your signs.

Today when I was out I saw a cluster of signs! Since they are illegal here, they REALLY stand out. Of course, they may be more noticeable to me since I'm in the biz, too.

Frederick, I am very impressed with the posts I have seen from you. You look like you are a young guy and you certainly have a lot of tenacity. I have no doubt that you are going to be successful!

You guys have me really laughing...It is funny their is a guy in my REI Association that I guess actually got fined for his signs...I never full understood where he places them but, they joke with him all the time.

I've decided to add them to my parketing plan. 25 a month is my goal for both my business. So maybe the bandit angles will watch out for me too.
