Hey All,
Well, here was my thinking-outside-the-box moment. Our town just held school board elections last Tuesday. Over the past couple of weeks, I'd noticed the bandit signs appearing in the ground around town promoting the candidates. I realized that I had seen these signs just left out to rot after elections in previous years, never collected back up by the political teams. I then went out around town a couple hours after the elections ended and picked up all the signs that I had taken note of. I've seen a couple more that I didn't notice before in the past week.
Now, I'll just cover the signs with green neon posterboard and make up my "We Buy Houses" signs. The political signs were 18" x 24", so I can cut the signs in half and I won't need as much posterboard on each sign!
The cost for all this? Gas to drive around, posterboard, some tape, and a marker!

Great use of political signs.
I like that. Truly outside of the box...Jan
Helped clean up the politicians mess and gets your message out there. Way to go! Also, the politicians know all the best places to put the signs.
That is stealing. I had someone swipe my signs the other week when I was trying to find a buyer. They took my signs down and cover the back and wrote their for sale message on the sign.
Be careful when stealing someone elses stuff because some people might do something about it, plus the idea of watching your back just isn't worth it. I know how it feels to watch someone cut my profits just to save 30 bucks. That's tacky and if you can't afford to buy your own signs then you should become a bird dog and get your money up first before you try investing.

Good idea! I do not think that was stealing because of the fact the election was over. Somebody else would have had to remove the signs anyway. Gotta get creative in this bizness!
Peace and Blessings,
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that frightens us. Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.”

If you start with political signs whats going to stop you from swiping another investors sign. There should be a code of ethics, either buy your own stuff or just get with another investor and share their resources.
In order to make some really good deals happen, you have to pay your dues. Not paying your dues will lead to short term profits.

Dante,
Don't worry! What stops me is Matthew 7:12, that's my code of ethics. I made sure I thought through before I collected the signs. They referred specifically to the April 20th elections and three specific candidates. I even found a couple more a week after the elections ended. So, the candidates weren't intending to collect them up. I remember in past how political signs would stay out by the roads for months, so this amounts simply to recycling.

it all depends on how some one looks at it. As long as the politicians themselves have no complaints about their signs being cleaned up for them and being used for something else that way they do not have to worry about going to get them back and this way they are not just sitting about beside the streets too. That way every one is happy and no charges are made either.

They may be fine, with your re-cyclecling the signs?
just call the candidates themselves and tell them why you want the signs and assure them you will spray paint over there name so as to not imply endorsement of your activity. if they say thanks go get them if they say no leave them alone.
now you can sleep at night !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
p. s. what if a candidate spotted your sign over his and called you on it. talk about egg on your face. jus my $.02
happy investing

4 in favor, 2 opposed, and 3 cautiously optimistic! Do I have any other takers?

Don't forget, everybody. I live in New Jersey, and here in the Garden State, "politician" is a euphemism for financial waste!

Thanks -
I wondered about that too..
Is there an ordinance/law/mandate, that dictates when signs need to be removed?
It might be a selling point too?
ie:(Thank you for your time Mr./Ms. ________________ - and ask them...how can you 1)obtain the used signs - to recycle?)...
get the who, when, where, how, what...
So:
1) Find and speak with the person that can look into your picking up
the signs?
2) You may be doing them a favcor and possibly get more signs?
3) (Google;send an email and/or call),I would do all -three should take 3 minutes?
I might call first then follow up with a simple email.
If you want -personalize that email
with what you know so far...thank them for their time and advice.
pandpvinc dont let anybody tell u what u did was wrong there just mad cause they didnt think of it,And if they dont like it I guess they can just go waste money on new signs,This web sites about helping people be creative and make money and thats what u r doing.
Bub,
I agree! The creativity is what we need most, and I'm glad to see that you see it so clearly yourself! We've already gotten responses from the four signs that we have put out to this point: one buyer who saw an ad I'd put out regarding a property (a contractor in the next town over), and a neighbor who saw the "We Buy Houses" sign we'd put in our lawn (he has a rental property in Trenton that he's trying to sell...tired landlord!)
Tip: Sure enough, I'd heard this before, tried it, and it worked. I placed my ad for a "handyman special" near an entrance to my town's Home Depot because that's the shopping hot spot for your contractors and rehabbers and, lo and behold, the contractor called me last week!
Also, the first bandit sign you put out should be in your own yard if you have one. And if you don't, tear up some concrete and plant some grass!

most likely the politicians who those signs were for are going to be indicted for something within the next 6 months so he should be fine
Elix,
Yeah, I'll keep at least one of those signs in my basement for the sake of future reference!

Good creativity on this. I hope it works out.

Absolutely Great Idea, as long as the election is over and you make sure to erase or write over their information, that's a very creative way to cut costs. Works just as good and doesn't cost a thing.
I agree with iloverei. cover all your bases. the word says to avoid even the perception of wrong doing in order not to defame the name of Jesus, whom we serve. Hope you have much success.
