Please Pray for our Victims in Alabama

Please Pray for our Victims in Alabama

To the DG Family,

I just returned from a light survey of damages for one of my buyers near the Mile-Wide Swath of destruction caused last week by the Tornadoes here in Birmingham, Alabama. The destruction is MASSIVE and the devastation is total. entire neighborhoods have been wiped from the map and there are still several people displaced and in need of food, shelter and clothing. A lot of people had a total loss of homes and private belongings and the "sharks" have already started to swoop in to take advantage of the situation.

I do not know the best way to describe this other than to tell you all that it is a complete disaster area and there is not much more of a way to describe this horrible event. Please pray for the families and the Individuals that have lost their family members, their property and everything they have. I, personally, have a friend that I cannot get in touch with since the storms, who lived in Tuscaloosa...right where the F-4 went through. I can only hope that he is ok and is somewhere safe. I am driving down this afternoon to go to his home (if they will let me in there) to try to find him.

Please pray for all of those who have suffered in this tragedy in Tuscaloosa, Birmingham and Eclectic, Al. and remember that even though a deal may fall through, or you may be moving slow...at least we all have our lives and belongings and there are those who have nothing in the blink of an eye.

God Bless everyone who has been affected and God Bless the DG Family for the Well-Wishes and thoughts I have received via PM.

Thanks All!

Jon

Somtimes It Is Difficult To Understand

My heart gets heavy every time I look at the news, hear the stories and see the devastation. Why did it all happen? God alone knows. As I continue to pray for America, and the world as a whole, all six affected states are in my prayers. I have decided to double my charitable donation to the Red Cross, which is always the first on the scene giving assistance. I really hope and pray that the people will find strength in God as the powerhouse of sustenance. God Bless.

in Jesus name, prayers are going out.

This devastation is heartbreaking. I pray for the families affected by this tragedy and wish that there was more impact I could have. I pray you find your friend Jon. I pray hat miracles will be found amongst the devastation.

Jen was saying this area isn't covered by FEMA? Sad

Thank You all!

Thank you all! GREAT NEWS!! I found my friend Matt who did not have very much damage, but has been without power for days and could not check his messages. he and his family are OK and are helping with the recovery daily. The power of prayer...a wonderful thing!

God Bless,

Jon

Hey Tammy,

As of Saturday this was effective for Eclectic. I believe this is also inclusive to some of the other small counties in AL that were affected. Birmingham and Tuscaloosa are included. Citizens here are still being encouraged to call, report and get on the list. I'm still trying to determining if this is based on population, etc. I haven't been able to get through to an actual individual yet EMA/FEMA.

Jon:

I will continue to keep all of those that where impacted in my prayers. Please do not hesitate to call if I can be of ANY assistance.

God bless,
Jen

Tuscaloosa devastation

Jon, so glad to hear that your friend and his family are OK. We're continuing to pray for all the rescue and relief efforts, and the impact on daily life.

Had trouble locating my daughter who's a nurse in Tuscaloosa. Was so relieved when I eventually got word that she was safe. She and I are Univ of Alabama - Tuscaloosa alumnae, and that town is dear to us.

Her apartment complex was unscathed, but the twister completely leveled neighborhoods just blocks away. She heard the roars of the twister, and hid in her bathroom till it passed. What she saw from her window just a few minutes later was like a war zone. The regional medical center where she works was damaged, and they received around 100 injured an hour. The part of town I lived in years ago is nearly gone. Like you said, there's MASSIVE devastation. She says the losses are staggering and heart-breaking. The army's helping with search and recovery there.

Here are some Univ of AL links with disaster relief info, and the City's link to find missing loved ones. The DG family can help by donating to relief efforts, and by donating blood through the Red Cross. Blood donations from anywhere can be designated for the tornado victims.

UPDATE: Elmore Co.

Just an update to previous post. I just verified Elmore County HAS been included in the FEMA Assistance. From the list, appears that all counties are covered. Thank you Lord!

They have closed the Elmore County Disaster Revovery Center effected at 5:00 p.m. 05/01/2011. Will reopen once FEMA is on the ground (no specified date/time).

God Bless,
Jen
