EDGE2012 contest run 100% by the byDG family.CAN U DONATE $10? It will make the difference!!!)Updated with NEW PAYPAL address!

DONATION UPDATE!:
Ok, I verified that there is trouble with that paypal account and paypal is looking into it, so this is the new paypal address to pay to: [email protected] . Remember to designate it as a 'gift'. We've lost a lot of donations with that not working. So, if you did try to pay by paypal and it didn't work, please try with this new info. Thank you everyone!

UPDATE:
OK, I want to say that I get such a thrill out of doing this contest and that reading the up and comers reminds me how I was in that position once myself. I will not forget how difficult it is to both get started in REI as well as how much dedication it takes to turn a negative profit business to profitable again. I NEED YOUR HELP!

WE HAD ALMOST A VIRTUAL TIE FOR 2nd and 3rd; separated by only 0.2pts. This is a contest that is put up entirely by the DG family, NOT Dean, not his companies, not the coaches, but US here. I do not want to put the burden on Dean to come up with exorbitant amounts towards this contest when he already gives us so much of himself and his time.

If we can raise $5K for this, our 3rd place winner will get to goto the EDGE. We are at about $1100. We need about $3900. That is 390 more donators at $10 each **OR** if you have $20 to donate, that is only 185 people donating. Also, if we raise the $5000, we can do the contest again next year. Please, if you are able, contribute. If you are in a position where this isn't possible at all, it is totally understandable. But basically, do we, as the DG family, want to be able to pay it forward to the new up and comers? Won't you consider a donation of any amount today? Thank you so much for listening!!!!
-----------------------------------------------------
Hello DG Family! (Updated with list of donators/evaluators and to extend the date to Feb 29th)

To those who did NOT choose to donate, would this help you donate? http://www.deangraziosi.com/real-estate-forums/everything-else/104191/wh...
Last year, James Kendrick ran a contest for people to WIN a chance to goto the Edge. This year I thought I'd start the thread!

First, we need for DGers who are out there making it happen to donate to the cause. Who's ever up for it, you can either email me with your donation amount or put it right here on this thread. No amount is too small or big Laughing out loud The EDGE is an AWESOME learning opportunity. But, probably even more, its a great NETWORKING tool and an experience that can't be replicated.

Secondly, we need judges to vote on essays. To become a judge you need to be an active contributor to the sight and/or have done at least 4 deals. (both sides of the deals count). Please contact me at EDGE2012Contest at gmail dot com. Please, NO PMs about this. (I am not very good at organizing my PMs on this site).

Pay attention to this closely. Third, to enter the contest you will have to do 2 things. Write an essay that will convince the judges that YOU should be one of the person's chosen to goto the EDGE event. Second, you must be open to any of the judges contacting you either via email or phone. There will be 2 winners; more if there are more contributions to the cause. You also must be able to get to the EDGE and pay for lodging, as well as be able to make it on the days of the EDGE event (April 27-29). It is not required that you've completed a deal yet. Follow the directions carefully.

--Your essay should be kept more than 400 words, but kept under 1000 words and be about why we should choose YOU to goto the EDGE.
--You must also have filled out your entire DG profile and told us a little about yourself in your profile.
--You must include your name, your contact information (phone and email), your time zone, and your DG screen name at the beginning of your essay as a cover page.
--The title of your essay should be 'Gain the EDGE 2012 Essay, YOUR DG NAME', listed on your cover page.
--Pages, if you should go over 1, need to be numbered.
--You should post to this thread after you've sent your essay.
--Your essay should answer the following questions for the judges:
***Why you want to goto the EDGE?
***What REI means to you
***What will you do if you fail at any time?
***What you think it takes to be successful in REI?
***What will you do with the information you get at the Edge?
***What are you doing now and what have you done so far to build your REI?

Essays should be sent to/evaluators should contact me at EDGE2012Contest at gmail dot com. EVERYONE has a chance to win this! We look forward to reading your essays! The deadline to receive essays will be FEBRUARY 29th; and we will narrow it to 6 finalists. Good luck everyone!

It is CERTAIN we will SUCCEED!

Moving entries--Thank you Tammy--Special pin for donors

Thank you, Tammy, for your big heart! You are the perfect example of "Paying it forward" and I'm inspired by the time and effort and diligence you have put forth in making this possible for someone!

The many entries so far (including those posting above! Thanks!) have been both touching and inspiring. And I know there will be a flood more pouring in at the last minute. It will definitely be hard to choose who gets this great opportunity. Everyone who submits deserves applause for the courage and openness it took to share their story and their dreams, some having just stumbled upon Dean and REI recently, some having struggled a long time to get started.

Like Karen said, attending the EDGE is lifechanging!! Lifetimes (Dean's and many others')of knowledge and experience, plus tools and networking, and in-person motivation, all packed into one unbelieveable weekend! You don't want to miss it! And two people who've chosen to make that difference in their lives by writing a few hundred words will get to join us thanks to fellow DGers who want to give them that chance.

BTW, thanks again to all the donors!!!! We are going to have a SPECIAL PIN for those who are giving to this cause. It's not too late to give, and any amount is greatly appreciated, big or small. If you are not attending EDGE 2012(where we will hand out the pins), we will mail yours to you after EDGE. Just a memento of our thanks. Plus the satisfaction of watching the winners use what they learn to change THEIR lives and the lives of those around them!

See you at EDGE 2012! Woohoo!!!! Smiling

Rina

ONLY 2 DAYS LEFT!

February 29th at midnight is when we STOP accepting essays! Get yours in today! Thank you!

The Challenge! ***Being 1 of the 500 donors!***

Hello Tammy,

I have read all of the stories on this thread and I would like to create a challenge to hopefully push things over the top in the next 48 hours. So many of us DG'ers have such busy lives and do not stop to smell the roses often enough. When you wrote, in one of your bumps, that if just 500 of our DG-family members were to donate $10.00 dollars to this cause what a difference it would make to the effort.

So as I continued to read through the other stories of all 4 pages and I kept asking myself this question over & over again. If I had $10.00 dollars to give? What would I miss if I did donate it to this contest?

Here are some of my choices...

1. I could buy 2 gallons of gas for my car so I could drive neighborhoods looking for deals on homes to buy.

2. I could buy some stakes for bandit signs but would have nothing left to buy other supplies needed to make the signs.

3. I could get a 1 month subscription to a newspaper, for the classifieds, to find landlords who want to sell their rentals.

4. I could buy myself some real estate business cards but would not be able to pay for the shipping to receive them.

5. I could spend it to take my loving wife to take her out to a fast-food dinner but would not enough left to eat with her.

You see, I could never go to the EDGE event anyway as I have no funds to support the costs of lodging nor the other things involved with such an endeaver. But the thought of helping someone else who might benefit from and even become successful in real estate from such a wonderful event just sticks in my mind.

So I am challenging the entire DG family to stop and consider exactly what 10.00 dollars would mean if they gave it to this cause? If those two lucky winners were to become sucessful in real estate? If those two lucky winners were to pass the favor on to just two more?

Come on DG'ers! This does not take a rocket scientist to figure this one out. I am honored to give the 10.00 dollars! What about all of you others? Let's do it in the next 48 hours before the door closes! #1 to #500! JUST DO IT!

Bill and Rina, you bring

Bill and Rina,
you bring tears to my eye from the compassion I hear in your word. It truly is a "karma" thing.I just had to keep this at the top.
So to all of those people thinking they can't do it, YOU can. Write your story down.
And all of you DGers please donate to the cause and Tammy sign me up for another $10.00.

I BELIEVE!

Thank you Rina

You are very kind! Are you jumping out of an airplane again this time? Sticking out tongue It was so awesome to sit next to you at the Edge last year, I'm hoping I get more time for after hours networking this time. But, I can't take credit here, Jim started this last year and I'm only following in his footsteps. I'm hoping we can get more of the originally superstars to visit us here on this thread. Laughing out loud

We SO appreciate the donors and those taking the time to read the essays, and the efforts of Theo to really ramp up the donation efforts. There is NO cutoff date to decide to donate, btw Smiling The cuttoff on 2/29 midnight is just for the essays.

I just want to say thank you

I have just completed and sent off my essay. But you have to see this to believe it. It's one thing to say you can make money with no money but it's another thing to actually do it. So I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

So I can say this with a humble and heavy heart that this contest is a answer to my prayers. I have been through a lot these past few years but if I am declaired a winner I will be there even if I too have to camp out.

Thanks and God Bless

Bump up--LAST DAY TO ENTER YOUR ESSAY!!!

Thank you to the newest donators, Keith, Theo, Donna, Chip and Andrea and Ginger!

To the rest of you, lets see if we can storm this thread with $10 donations. 500 $10 donations is all we need!!!

And finally, if you are going to enter, you have until MIDNIGHT 2/29 to email your essay. Everyone that enters is taking action to achieve success in their lives! You can do it!!!

Thanks Ginger!

We got your essay!

Thanks Kim

We got your essay too!

I am expecting over 100 essays tomorrow. Please don't let my expectations down! Laughing out loud

I'm ready for the opportunity to go to EDGE but it's time to get started even if I am not picked. Hard work will get me there.
