I was involved in residential property management of apartment communities for several years in Cali, before moving to Austin 4 years ago.
Since my time here in Austin, I dabbled into the video game industry and learned some technical support skills in the process. Sadly after dealing with constant lay offs from contract work which was suppose to last 9-12 months (at least that's what the company kept telling us each time...lol) my credit is in the toilet and I am living on a very small subsidy from our family farm.
It's enough to let me pay rent, and pay basic expenses, but no wiggle room. After reading Deans book, " Profit from Real Estate" and reviewing the sincere nature of those involved, I ordered the "Your Town Your Real Estate" online last night and have been focusing my studies reading the PDF online format.
For the past many years, I have encountered to many "nay sayers" who tell me this type of investing is not possible with having some money and decent credit, or they tell me that "everyone is doing it" and its a saturated market.
I honestly do not believe this, and with the aid of others starting out and those who have been around to help with tips and advice, I know that I will succeed in this new business. This sparked deeply within me, after being turned down to manage any apartment community because they feel my negative credit is a reflection of how I would manage their asset =( Seriously??!!?
The reasons I want to put all my extra time and effort into this now, and really force myself to do whatever it takes to make it happen, is because of my daughter who lives in Cali with her mom, and to be able to help my elderly parent with their financial needs as they get further along in life.
I want to be able to have extra money and help close friends and loved ones with help and expect nothing in return... for me, this is a personal quest in that I can help others who are truly in need. It is to give hope to loved ones who struggle with daily life and perhaps, once I show my success, help them do the same thing =)
