Ok, so I am starting my journey to freedom. You can follow along as you like. I look forward to hearing from you and hope you may get something out of this also.
I am an American who moved to Canada with my family way back in 1978. I lived there until Nov 2009. Everything I know is Canadian. Living back in the USA has been a long time dream of mine. Some people tell me this is not the time to make this move....but true to my nature, I did what I wanted to do.
I had seen Dean's commerical in Canada, but never ordered them while I lived there. So when I moved home I ordered Dean's books as soon as I could. Went thru them fairly fast. Now going thru them again. Seriously thinking of joining the Academy.
So far I have posted "owner finance" ghost ads on craigslist. I cannot believe the amount of buyers I have gotten responses from in the 2 weeks my ads have been up. This has prompted me to look for that home that I can buy and resell. My biggest thing to get out of my head is "this is not going to be my house".
I CAN DO THIS.
I am going to look at 3 properties on the weekend. I have made countless calls to realtors and finally found one who would even show me the properties. I am amazed at some of the reasons (excuses) realtors gave me for not wanting to show me anything. "Not worth my time to show a house listed for only $50,000.00, just plain not returning calls or emails (this is the listing realtor) and my favorite.....I can't drive out in the country I might get a flat tire or something, again the listing realtor. Hoping the realtor I have now works out.
I am hoping to use Greg Murphy's strategies on my journey. I have no money, no credit, but I do have detremination and grit.
Little baby steps, I am a fast learner so I hope to off and running soon.
God Bless until next time

Thanks for the little pep talk....sometimes that is all that is needed to cotinue to break the cycle of negativity we find our selves in. My husband and I made a huge leap to break our negativity. We moved from Alberta, Canada to Missouri. We weren't making it in a place we had known our whole lives, so we decided to pack it up and move to the USA. No friends, no family, nothing in Missouri for us except a new beginning. Now we are not running from anything or anyone, we just decided we needed a change and a new start in life, so here we are. I remember the negativity from family and friends when we told them we were moving, but we stuck with it and told them they were more then welcome to come visit us when we were settled. To this day only one really close family member was positive for us. For that I will love him forever and miss him the most. It is amazing how much strength you can get froom just one positive person in your life. I will always remember to "keep putting one foot in front of thr other and you will get where you are going soon enough". So even though he will not see this post I say "Thank You Matt Bruisedhead, I love you cousin".
So again homeless in MD......Thank You

I like the title of yoru Jouranal. It is so true that many of us on the site are all pursuing our journeys to financial freedim. Congratulations for starting your journal it is a great way to keep yourself accountable and share your insight and knowledge with other DG Members. The DG website is packed with information and inspiration. You may want to consider joining a local real estate investment club to network with other investors. This is a great way to learn and maybe even find a partner for a few deals. Try to do a little each day to get you closer to your goals and dreams. Good luck with real estate investing. Thanks to everyone for all their Positive comments.....it makes it easier to forget the negative. I am totally enjoying my life in the USA. Feels like home, nothing is missing.
As for my investing I went and looked at 3 houses in the area on Saturday. 2 of them are on my prospects list. Just waiting for some numbers on one house. I am hoping to put an offer in later today. Will keep you posted. Love reading and learning, but most of all the whole positive aura I get from this site.
Good luck to the rest of you. I wish you success.

And they think you will not make it. What did they say about who laugh last. You are in the game and playing on your terms. I cannot wait to hear "deal accepted," and the details. The DG family are behind you all the way. God Bless.

RIGHT!!!!! My husband was with me when I looked a t a few properties. I liked 2 of them. Did numbers in my head and on paper. Nothing wrong with them. I keep talking about how I should put an offer in on them and get this investiing career of mine going. So this morning my husband has asked me if I have called and made an offer. I said no, I haven't had time. The response...what are doing right at this moment? Ummmm...nothing? Good then get off the phone with me and call Mr. Realtor. Ohhh and by the way you have nothing to lose but my support if you don't make this call. I am thinking WHAT???? you aren't going to support me in this? What kind of husband are you? He says you aren't doing anything so there is no need for my support.OHHHHHH I don't like it when he is right and makes sense.
So I am off to see Mr. Realtor at 2pm. I will not let my fear of making an offer overrule the fear of being without my husbands support. I have it and gladly given, so I will not let him down. Most of all I will not let myself down.
To all newbies, just take it one step at a time. Baby steps...that is how we all learn. Find support from a family member, a friend or someone here on DG. When they give it, take it and be very thankful for it.
I am thankful everyday for my husbands little shoves forward. I know he will be there to hold my hand when I stumble and he will be there for all the wins.
Talk to you after I meet with Mr. Realtor.

Put my offers in yesterday and it wasn't so bad. Mr. Realtor was very nice and helpful. Laughed when he found out I was "practising my investing" on him. He said keep it coming, I am open to new things and new experiences. Thank you Mr. Realtor.
So I say.....go ahead and do it, call your realtor and say, "I want to make an offer". It is not that bad.
Cross your fingers for me. I will let you know on Monday if it was accepted or not.
Have a super weekend.

I did not get either one of my offers accepted. One was just turned down flat and the other was a bunch of back and forth for about 9 days before they finally said no deal. I had a blast negotiating, who would have thought that was so much fun. I have not given up and I am still looking to put another offer in on one property. I must say that Mr. Realtor is having fun at the same time.....my new name is Shereen and/or assigns. Loving it.
My husband came home and told me that one of his co-workers would love to do RE investing also, so I said bring him on over and let's talk. So he has now borrowed one of Deans books from me and is driving around calling me with addresses and houses. He also has a friend in Louisiana that has a house that needs to sell, so I sent him home with a list of information we are going to need and will go from there. Kinda cool. Loving his energy and enthusiasm.
Another co-worker has a house in Georgia that he NEEDS to sell. So I am in the process of getting the details and seeing if I can help him out and helping me out at the same time.
I think I am going to hire my husband as my contractor/marketer/inspector as he is awesome at all 3 jobs. As MR.Realtor put it "Doug is the brains and you are the muscle" Again Loving it.
Have a good week. Go out there and get busy doing "something" that has to do with REI.
Talk to you all soon
