I received a missed a call today and I called back the number and it appeared to be a man who ask me if I buy houses. So obviously I said yes. So I asked him how did he hear about us? He told me one of his friends who I had given my business cards in past. Then first asked me how much would I pay for a $175,000 house? I told him I would have to look at the comparable sales because I buy and sell alot of houses and in order for me to do that I have to turn in my money quickly so I don't pay retail prices.
Then I asked him to tell me a little more about this house which he would consider to sell? The only thing he told me about the house is the area, 3/2, and his mortgage payment only (he said he doesn't know how much mortgage balance was left). He refused to to give me the address of the property or spell out his full name for me.
So I asked him it looks like a property just what we are looking for how come are you selling your property? He told he got a new job and his relocating.
Here is the issue: This guy was asking me if we can meet up now (the current time was 7:38 pm eastern time) and I was like unfortunately I wouldn't be able to meet up with him today but we can meet up tomorrow or next week whenever you are free. He was like he can't meet up tomorrow or next week neither because by then he will be out of the state.
Well I told him if he had an attorney and he said yes and i was like you could have a power of attorney who could take care of the transaction. He was like it seems you are not ready to make money.
I had to pass on this one because this guy looks kind of suspicious lol and weird.
I appreciate it if someone could tell me what to do next time I encounter another person like this guy?
Thanks

sounds like a little fishy but all you had to tell him was if he really wanted to sell his house he would try to meet when it was convenient for you. Or you could of just met him at a public place like a Starbucks or some sort of restaurant. Maybe he was skeptical about you thats why he didn't give you his address and name. I had a lot of sellers in the past who called my bandit signs with their number blocked and asked if I had a business name or a website, and when I will ask for their address of the property they would tell me they don't feel comfortable giving me their address when they're still living in the home. To be honest if you have a funny feeling about someones intentions then go with your gut feeling.
