OfflineOkay, okay... so the title was a little misleading, however, I had an idea for Dean and was wondering if anyone on DG.com thinks it would be a good idea.
As most of you probably know from watching any TV; there are a number of reality TV shows on regarding real estate.
The problem is most, if not all, of these shows are either about already successful investors showing their struggles of flipping a house or property virgins learning what to look for when buying a new home or a pair of brothers showing home buyers how to buy run down property and renovate it... there is even one where a guys shows families how to completely redesign basements or other parts of their homes to use for rental income to reduce the cost of their living expenses.
I think each of these have a particular quality that all real estate investors could either benefit from, relate to, however...
What I'm proposing is a real estate investor Primetime TV show; where Dean could go into any city in the US in this current market and take someone who knows absolutely knows nothing about real estate, but has the drive to change their lives; apply the principles and techniques he talks about in his book and through the Academy and show them how to locate, evaluate, purchase (no money down of course), renovate then rent or flip a property.
This would not only create a tremendous amount of exposure for DG and this site, but it would also fall along the same lines as all his teaching. Changing people's lives through real estate.
I'm not sure how you would select a candidate in each town, but I would like to volunteer myself as the first candidate. : )
Obviously I'm sure Dean's schedule is pretty busy, but it would be nice to see him do the first season, then have some of his top students come in and fill his shoes. This would not only be the beginning of something I think would be pretty spectacular, but it would also teach people how to give back to others as well.
Come on DG.com... what do you think, can we get DG on Primetime TV?

Yes, I originally read in one of Robert's books that he had done something like this before. He would pull people out of the welfare line, however, I don't think he ever made a TV show about it and I don't think Robert is as focused on real estate as he is about multiple streams of income.
Dean is the real deal and I believe this would even out last the show The Apprentice with Donald Trump, because his show is focused more on business and less on real estate.

I don't remember Dean saying anything about this. I think Dean has some top students going out and helping other Academy students, but it's not currently being produced like a TV show... at least not that I'm aware of.
I just think something like this would really be a hit!
I'm almost envisioning something like "American Idol" and "The Apprentice" combined, where people come out to audition, or in this case, tell their elevator pitch about why they want to change their lives (7 levels deep), give the first round of people the same task and see how well they handle it.
The ones that produce the most results move on to the next round and so forth until you get down to the finals, where the winner will get to partner with Dean on future endeavors.
My only problem with the vision above is that it becomes more like a reality game show, and while the ratings would probably be through the roof... it takes more of the personal feel out of the whole situation. To keep ratings up, the candidate who didn't make it through will probably be exploited somehow through the national media.
That's why, I think a show where Dean himself comes out and helps someone would not only be entertaining, but would/should really help change people's lives.
It might get people to start thinking/doing for themselves again and get this country back on the right track, rather than waiting around for someone else to take care of them. Sorry, that last line was a little political, but I think it needed to be said.

he loves that show! Dean said he is working on something like that for a TV show to do with what he is teaching. Changing peoples lives and giving them a hand-up! I haven't heard anything lately but I do know he has mentioned it before.
That would be great,but I know he his very busy trying to make our dreams come true,but I would definetly volunteer for that.

Dean's blogs are mentioning his travels and working with students who have struggled, and finding they weren't following his footsteps closely enough. Wonder if he had a camera crew with him when he did this?

I am direct to the VP of a $100 million dollar open-ended debt and equity fund which actively writes checks to fund businesses with an EBITDA of at least $1 million a year. We fund also have access to up to $500,000,000 for the purchase of distressed real estate, specially commercial $7,500,000 and up.
Would be a great idea!
Maybe a six week program where Dean gives action assignments and does a weekly checkup on the student to make sure they are sticking with the program. Could compress it to an hour long show.
I don't know, I'm sure Dean has something up his sleeve.
