Pulling The Trigger To Get Started

Pulling The Trigger To Get Started

I read a lot of posts on here. I appreciate the knowledge thats offered. I love the exciting stories of victory and achievement. Ive read Profit From Real Estate and been debating jumping in with both feet on trying this out. I know I can do it, and your evidence shows it works. Ive finally realized the problem with me pulling the trigger: "With everything I do in my life, I have zero confidence in something I know nothing about". I dont know the real estate game the way you guys do, at all. So it would be very tough for me to talk to a home owner or investor on topics that Im not aware of. I love the phrase "fake it til u make it". But Id be faking it 99.9%. The only knowledge I have is Dean's book. What should I do? Should I take a real estate course to get down the terms and legalities? Or is it as basic as find a seller, find a buyer....and put it together, while saving the extras for a lawyer or title company? This is just a lot to take in not knowing anything about it. But I do know I want to change my life, and now is the time. Any suggestions on my cold feet?

Different ways

You are right, your first step depends on your level of confidence. Some people can just go out and do it. Some people need to find a way to ride shotgun for a while. Some people need to go learn more about real estate so they feel more comfortable. Some people need to go to a couple of seminars. Some people learn a great deal from a local RE investment group. Some people need to learn common people skills. It just depends on your truthful self examination of yourself. I still go to all sort of classes to learn more about different areas that I am interested. I've been doing this for a long time and I think I will never know it all, even though I run a pretty sucessful RE firm. The most important thing is just to keep moving forward. I think it really is that simple.

Your confidence will grow as you continue learning and take action. Re-read PFREN,come to this website to find lots of great info, continuing educating yourself and take action. Every step you take will help build your confidence. Join a REI club in your area and you'll meet invesors, REA's, etc. Some people on this site are REA's and some aren't. There are several posts about this and others have shared their views on the advantages and disadvantages for them.

Like trustpoint said we are always learning.

Here is a link to a wonderful post from Jeff Jensen one of Dean's Coaches to help you when you are speaking to different people. http://www.deangraziosi.com/real-estate-forums/marketing-buyers-and-sell...

Face your fear(s) and you will overcome them Smiling I remember how afraid I was the first time I called a for rent sign in search of an investor or seller. This first conversation went from bad to worse Smiling LOL! Like everything we do we get better with practice and time.

Best of luck to you!

Cold feet?

I tell all my new clients that are worried about looking stupid to get out there and look stupid and do it quick! The sooner you do it, the quicker you'll start building some knowledge. Talking to people in the field and dealing with professionals will help you build knowledge very quickly.

It doesn't mean that people won't ignore you, or blow you off, or get mad at you. You just have to break through those things. There will be some very helpful, friendly professionals out there who will help you along. Take advantage of that!

And stay positive! Keep working and you'll be surprised at how fast you succeed!

ACTION CURES FEAR!

Never quit learning. Read/study daily. If only 30 min before bed, be amazed at what you can cover. Real Estate, Self-Help, Motivational, Business, People Skills, Management. No junk....good stuff! lol Junk In=Junk Out. lol

And one of the lessons I can testify to and live by daily is: ACTION CURES FEAR!!! Sometimes we just have to do it scared or do it uncomfortable, but point being we just have to do it! Smiling Then it becomes a point when the pain of NOT doing it becomes greater!

Just bloom where you are planted and grow from there.

Stay steady, draw a line in the sand and no turning back! You can do this! Just get started, don't quit, stay steady! Do something for your REI biz daily. You WILL have what it is that you desire.

Just do it!

Just remember that everyone has to start somewhere, and most investors you are working with started at the same place as you did. Getting a buyers list will do a lot of things for you. In the first place a buyers list will help you in defining your target market. A good buyers list will be a great foundation to get you off and running.
