My house almost burned down

My house almost burned down

Thankfully we never had a flame spark. Last night, we smelled electrical burning going down to our basement. We checked everywhere and everything for the source, but couldn't find it, we just knew it was centralized by the stairs. After a little while, I began to smell wood burning and the smell of a burned-out match. When I looked down into the basement, I began to see a haze developing in the air. Dad called the fire department and they told us to get out of the house, they were on their way. Well, in the few short minutes we took, we got our two dogs, my laptop computer, and all three of Dean's books outside with us before the fire department showed up! Smiling They did a thorough inspection of the entire house and weren't able to find anything, but the smell has nearly dissipated today.

I guess the point is that, if I was going to start at square one after a disaster, I wanted to do it with Dean's books!

Waow....

I'm also gald to hear that you are ok
Something like that happened to me a while back but it was my wife and my mom who got to the house right when a fire was starting in the attic. Apparantly an old wire was heatting up a carton box that was over it, that and the heat of a summer day in houston started the fire..... we were all lucky this didnt happened while sleeping or something and also that they got to the house right on time!!!
Nice move taking the books out with you!!!

Take care

Vincent,

I'm glad that you, your family, pets and home are OK!! That must have been pretty scary.

When I was a kid my cousin's house burned down during the night and the only reason they woke up was because the youngest had asthma, she got up and woke her family. Everyone got out safely, they had to jump from a 2nd story window. I saw the house afterwards, it was erie. The walls were black from soot but you could see the youngest's hand prints on the walls as she felt her way down to her parents bedroom.

Again I'm so glad everything is OK.

Glad You're OK

Glad to hear everyone is safe and sound. Material items can be replaced but love one's are irreplaceable.

good thing

It was almost a blessing in disguise, because I had just finished watching my Jets lose to the Colts before all this started and I was feeling a little sorry for myself. This helped shake me out of it pretty quick! Laughing out loud
