One of the keys to being a success with real estate investing is staying organized, focused and motivated. Motivation can come in many forms from other people, to music, quotes or even movies.
There are so many great movies that can motivate and inspire you. These movies can inspire you to think a little different, to believe, and to most importantly take action! Everyone has a different motivation and I believe their are various movies that can motivate you.
Several nights ago I saw the 1987 movie "The Secret of My Success" starring Michael J. Fox. The overview of the movie was "There's no such thing as an overnight success. Brantley Foster took two weeks....He's determined to climb New York's corporate ladder in record time by masquerading as an up-and-coming executive, even though he's really the new mail boy. This young man can't get an executive position without rising through the ranks, so he comes up with a shortcut, which also benefits his love life."
Overall this was a fun movie to watch but it had many things that one could relate to real estate. Sometimes things do not go as you plan and its your Plan B that may determine where you go in life. Hard work, doing your research, networking and wanting to move-up, the right way, were all things that drove Brantley Foster to success! Brantley (Carleton Whitfield) even had to meet with top bankers to finance a deal, something we can all relate to!
For everyone it can be a different movie. What Movie is your motivation?

"Build it and they will come!!!!"
I LOVE this movie for motivation!! And it very much applies to this business of people wanting to work with YOU, and give you money to invest, and grow with you, after you "build it"
What a great thread! Thanks Joe!

"White Roses For My Black Sister."
This is a movie I saw while in elementary school, and it left a special feeling in my heart.
This is not a movie, but i think it is a perfect motivational tool for all of us. I play it all the time. For those who fear making that first step in real estate; others with low self esteem and those who others told that you will amount to nothing, this CD set will get you going. It is a two part CD that will blow your mind.

My favorite movie is Hello Dolly with Barbra Streisand. I have watched it about 25 times to date. Also The Titans with Thee Denzel Washington (It's Our Time)............How can it get any better?

The Pursuit of Happyness inspires me because the main character is a real person. He became a phenomenal success through perserverance and deteremination as well as a clear vision of his goal.
Field of Dreams is a good one. Some day I would love to retire living on a property like in the movie. But with out the gost.

Rocky Balboa
His speech to his son about life was great. "It ain't about hard you hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward! How much you can take and keep moving forward, that is how WINNING IS DONE!"
Also Gladiator. "What we do in this life, echoes in ETERNITY."
Pursuit of Happyness is a great one too.
"Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority it is time to pause and reflect."

This is another great movie, Frank Capra's "It's a Wonderful Life" starring Jimmy Stewart. This movie shows you that anything is possibly even in a small town. If you believe in yourself, do the right things and help others, a community is their to inspire, support, and help when needed. Kind of like the DG website family?
Just like when the Angel Clarence wrote in George Bailey's book "Dear George, remember no man is a failure who has friends." Friends can make the difference and make a bad day seem better. We all have met Bankers like Mr. Potter....right? Thus, when you have a bad day, spend some time on the DG website to learn, inspire and share!

“Pursuit of Happyness” With Will Smith.
Love watching that movie…believe in yourself, determination, drive…and the willpower to move forward when life is kicking you down. Talk about living a double life. He gave it new meaning. Being hit by a car and loosing his shoe didn’t even stop him!

"The Cutting Edge" with D.B. Sweeney and Moira Kelly. This movie is about a
young couple who face almost insurmountable odds, to win olympic gold in pairs
skating. Of course, it doesn't hurt the story line that they just happen to
fall in love along the way. Excellent feel good movie, I highly recommend it.
They prove that through hard work and determination, anything is possible.
Joe, another great idea! Thanks!

Pursuit of Happyness:
Based on a true story, a father trying to make a better life for his son, who ultimately became extremely successful in the stock market w/no background or schooling in the subject whatsoever. He just decided he was going to do it, regardless of his current situation, & did it. I think part of what made this movie so strong was the fact that Will Smith's real son played his son in the movie. The guys' an amazing actor, but you could sense the real emotions & relate... I know I choked up & teared up quite a few times throughout the entire thing & still do!
The Secret:
I'm pretty sure everyone's watched this at least once, it's become somewhat of a global phenomenon. To summarize, it talks about how we all work off of one infinite power & are connected by it(the universe) & that we draw into our lives what we think of(conscious or unconscious). Based on the type of energy we put into those thoughts(positive or negative it doesn't matter), they manifest in our lives in one way or another.
I have to say the first time I watched it, like less than 3 minutes into it, I started crying! This movie almost completely "explained" certain things that have come about in my life & finally made perfect, logical sense as to WHY; that my mindset, the people I have & haven't surrounded myself with... all of that has played into where I am now & why.
The negative feedback that you find about this movie are basically from people who only see/hear on the surface. If you open your mind & LISTEN, this movie encompasses really what life is about, how & why we operate the way we do... the amount (or lack of) success you have in life is solely based on how you OPERATE (i.e the actions you do or don't take).
Days Of Thunder, Top Gun & Under Siege . They are covering, trying to control something on the edge of out of control and the strife of misfortune with mishaps that go with it. There is always these elements whether great or small in RE in a different aspect with every turn you make with the stakes being similarly high. The housing market is a mess with people being dumped out of their homes from a faulty loan system. The movies deal with the one persons decision to do or not to do and how. A wrong move and many people suffer. The right move and there is all kinds of happiness and pride in a job well done. RE your dealing with peoples lives too. The decision you make will have a profound out come one way or another on others you do not know and the satisfaction that may come out of it.

I have to say that The Pursuit of Happyness is one of my all time favorite movies. Which remind me...I think I will watch it a little later.
But seriously, I real life story of a man just trying to make a good life for he and his family. I think we all just want to be the best we can be, and most of us are willing to take chances (i.e. selling bone scanners)but, what seperate the winners from the losers is getting up after being knocked down. Even if you keep getting knocked down, determination, will power and taking action can have tremendous results.
I just finished "Profit From Real Estate Right Now", and I am very excited about my future and what real estate investing can mean for it. There seem to be so many amazing people on this site. I just want to be one of the many success stories. Stayed tuned!

This movie unfolded right before my eyes as I watch the team grow up, considering that Sian is my nephew, I know the struggles they had and the triumphs they had overcome. If five young men kept the one thing that success is made of: dreams and goals. You can do anything and be anything you want in life if you have the mindset to create it and the will power to go after it. I'm proud of my nephews! The Fab Five For Life! Akron's Own Sons!

They may be the best high school basketball team ever. From humble beginnings, future NBA superstar LeBron James, along with boyhood friends Dru Joyce, Sian Cotton and Willie McGee, began a journey that would take them from local fame to national acclaim. Joined by Romeo Travis in high school, the five fused their talents and, with the help of a dedicated coach, rewrote Ohio basketball history. Now, experience their trials, tribulations and triumphs in this inspirational film about five young men who became more than a team. (Editor Unknown)

Even the title is fitting. It is based on a true story of Steve Jobs sister who was always a dreamer. I think she was a little out there, but I like the story with Susan Sarandon and Natalie Portman. My famous line is when the mother talks about the average person thinking that they have to struggle in this life, she says, Struggle, Struggle, Struggle!!
