Hello,
I *did* search for this topic so if it was posted previously I apologize for having duplicated it.
I'm a Real Estate Investor in the Dallas metroplex. I just started using the business social network called Linked In at LinkedIn.com but have only had 2 groups accept me as a member so far. The other groups either don't respond or they say they don't grant access to users without any Connections because that sometimes indicates they might be spammers. I've requested some Connections of some of the DG Mentors but haven't received any replies so it's "Catch 22".
So, I was thinking maybe any people here who are new to LinkedIn could all join each other's LinkedIn networks as Connections to help each other out ... at least until we can make some Connections on our own. It would probably be best to provide our location too so that we would be able to choose those closest to our area.
Is there any reason this might be a bad idea? Do any of you think this would be a good idea? If so, maybe we could just lists our LinkedIn info on this Forum topic. Or if any of you would like to send me a PM regarding this topic, you are welcome to do so.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Thanks,
Samuel

As a man thinks in his heart, so is he!
Think on these things: whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy- meditate on these things
samuel, you may want to fill in more on your bio, so that others know more about you. I may be interested, but I will await others advice. I may have done a sumiliar post but not sure how that went. I will have to look it up. Sincerely Tammy

Thank you, Elix! That's great! I just sent you a PM with a link to my Linked-In profile. I look forward to hearing about the option you mentioned.

I had been invited to several, and at least 5 on here. But I always declined. I did accept one that is through a friend of mine, but not being savvy on this stuff, I just delete anything that comes across my email. I don't understand how this works, and all I get is stuff about other people, and don't know where this goes from there.
So I just don't respond to it. Even my friend doesn't seem to do anything with it.
What is it supposed to do for us, other than show other people on it.
Sandi
Thank you Elix for the connection. Sincerely, Tammy

Hello Sandi,
I'm sure there are other much more qualified people on this website who could answer your question better than I could, but I will try.
Much like Facebook.com is a social networking site for people to connect with regarding a personal interest like hiking, LinkedIn.com is a social networking site for business and entrepreneurs. As I understand it, LinkedIn helps businesses and entrepreneurs to connect with other businesses and entrepreneurs who are in the same industry. For example, I'm a Real Estate Investor so I'm in the Real Estate Industry. I'd like to connect with other Real Estate Investors and other Real Estate professionals like Real Estate Agents, Real Estate Lawyers, Contractors and Hard Money Lenders in order to grow my business. So LinkedIn actually makes it easier to be introduced to other like minded entrepreneurs and other professionals in my own industry who I can work with in the future and, perhaps, even socialize with since we have something in common.
If any of you have a better explanation of what Linked-In is for, please help me out here.
Samuel

LinkedIn is more for Networking..The more Connection you have The Better chances for finding Parnters..The better your Profile is the more other companys and Investor will talk to you..I have made alot of friends and meet alot of Cash Buyers and other Investor..You can also use the other Investor to help sell a Property of yours by having them use their Buyers List of course you have to pay them a Fee but it is a Win win for everyone.
Um,....Sam

Give me a call anytime
Hey Elix,
You haven't connected with me on LinkedIn so I don't have a phone number for you. And I didn't realize you needed a call back right away. Sorry about that, man. I worked Monday through Thursday this week so on my long week end I've been trying to get my online stuff in order for the last couple of days.
If you will PM me with your phone number I can call you tomorrow rather than waiting until Monday, if you like. Just let me know, sir.
Thanks!
Samuel (Samuel)
Twitter is amazing. There is one great usage for social media like Linkedin and twitter: you can post or tweet one time and it can go to all of your follower or connection very fast.
For those that are new to Twitter and Linkedin you should definitely join. The capabilities to advance you business are huge. Hundreds of people can view your information or the information that you post all at once.
Think of the value of having a property you are trying to sell, posting a Twitter feed, or Linkedin comment and having hundreds of people seeing this at once. You could have a buyer contacting you right there. There is such value in this.
If you would like the chance to work with me or one of my fellow real estate investor coaches and our advanced training programs, give us a call anytime to see if Dean's Real Estate Success Academy and our customized curriculum is a fit for you. Call us at 1-877-219-1474 ext. 125
I'm sorry Sam it wasn't a "you better call now,......or else...." but I assumed since we were talking and I had some free time. I'll PM you again my number

Elix,
You did? You connected with me on the Linked-In website? Hmmmm. I just logged in to LinkedIn and checked for new connection requests but there is nothing there from you. The only LinkedIn Connections I have right now are Les, Tammy and John. Sorry, man. You'll need to send another invitation if you would still like to link. I will accept your invitation for a LinkedIn Connection if I see it come though. Otherwise, I'll just wait for you to PM me your phone number.
Have a good evening.
Samuel

I swear I accepted your invite and PM'd you twice on here my #
Can you resend the linked invite and are there spaces in your name because there might be another on here with your name
Hey Elix,
LOL. Sorry you're having issues, man. You kept referring to me as "Sam" instead of "Samuel", so I'm guessing you probably Connected with the wrong person. LOL No worries though, I will PM you again with a direct link to my LinkedIn profile. That way you won't have to guess which Samuel you're looking for.

Look forward to speaking with you.
I still have my cell phone from over 8yrs ago that doesn't take pics or do anything fancy. I don't even text or receive them. So I got brave and joined face book, and see Dean and a few others on there. But wish I could group real estate on face book and keep it separate from all the personal stuff I see on there.
I did accept with someone on linkedin, but wasn't sure how to utilize it. Twitter, you have to buy another type of "gadget" for that. And none of my friends even use it. But will give the linkedin another try.
Hope it will help with properties. Been finding a ton of them up here, but most of my buyers, even from the REI club, they all want the city properties or within the two counties. I still live in farm country and the few buyers I know in this area, basically snatch up anything good before I even it. So will try linkedin, and maybe someone on there actually likes places in the country or on the lakes.
Thanks for all the info on these posts, and Samuel you did explain it very well, made me want to try it again.
