We completed our Boots On The Ground recently and tonight we are off to our first Treasure Coast REI Association meeting. Can't wait! Watch for the follow-up.

no follow-up yet... tell us how it went. we don't have a local rei club so it will be a little while before we can attend one. we have even entertained the thought of starting one here but that will have to wait until we can attend an out of town meeting or two. anyway, welcome to DG and I look forward to following your success!

REI Club Follow-up

Thank You Everyone for your support and your postings.

The meeting was incredible! There were 43 people there. The club is just getting rejuvenated and the cross experience of people was fascinating. One of the first goals is to put together a group of support companies that will included electricians, plumbers, carpenters, roofers, etc. that are credited and willing to work with the group. There is also a strong emphasis to build a network for buyers and sellers. We will be meeting once a month so will keep you posted on all the progress!

Any and all ideas are welcome from your experiences with REI Groups. Thank You for support and I hope everyone will give us some input.

My experience with all the REI clubs I attend is that they are filled with 85% tire kickers. You need to hook up with the guys that are doing deals. They will usually have their properties advertised and show up with flyers on the properties they have.

What I have done is find several good General Contractors. They have all the plumbers, electricians, roofers etc. already working for them. I don't share them with anyone.
Build your own buyer and seller lists and NEVER share them with anyone in any club unless they have a property for sale or a buyer for one of your properties.

REI clubs can be a GREAT source of contacts as long as you are asking the right people the right questions. These clubs are filled with people that have never and will never pull the trigger and do a deal. Hook up with the movers and shakers!

Most good clubs already have a group of sponsors that come and advertise their product at the monthly meeting. Realtors, money lenders, attorneys, contractors, appraisers, inspectors etc. These guys already work with investors. Sounds like your club officials may have work to do if these vendors are not already at the meeting. The club charges a membership fee right?

Try to go to as many REI clubs and meeting you can find. A booming and busy club can really supply great contacts for your business.

charge but meet only every other month. It doesn't look like there are many members either?

Most clubs will let you pay at the door for that meeting only. Also depends on what the yearly dues are. It only takes ONE active cash buyer added to your list to make it worth the trip! Or referral to an active REI agent, attorney, contractor etc. Face to face is the best way!
