WHY SOME SUCCEED AND SOME DON'T

Im the same way i have fear and frnds are telling not to do it but something tells inside of me to go for it, well i just hope that im right..

I am interested in what you have to say and you said that you have to change everything about you to succeed. Can you be more specific and give me some examples perhaps of changes you had to make. Also you said follow a few directions. What do you say is most important?

I remember feeling sick to my stomach with fear when I first started. You're right, Randy, a person just has to determine that they are gonna MAKE it and ignore anyone who tells them different. It's the proud few that do this and become what they want to be! Thanks for being willing to share your successes, and your fears along the way. I know each new obstacle keeps a person humble in their journey, and also enhances the sweet feel of victory when you overcome! Yay! Thanks for being a leader, Randy!

When I say everything I meant everything, the naysayers in my life I had to avoid. Stated getting involved with a whole new group. Inverters. I become teachable. I learn to take advise and not let my fears control me. Hope this helps

Great post Randy, successful people also learn from their mistakes. If you dont make mistakes either you are really good or you are not trying.

I just wanted to comment since I'm still on the other side of this equation. Fear still has a good hold on me but I'm breaking away and starting to do things I was first uncomfortable with (like ghost ads). I've finally reached a point where "my back is up against a wall" and I have to do something! Like Rina said I have that sick feeling in the pit of my stomach every day now. My head is spinning and I just can't seem to pull it together yet. It's so frustrating, but I WILL NOT GIVE UP! I think looking back at the past few months where I thought I was doing something I really wasn't. I've been doing things too conservatively because of fear of putting it all out there...

So I wanted to thank you Randy for starting this forum to remind everyone of what it takes. I know you all did it. So I can too! It's not rocket science, but it sure does feel like it sometimes when you don't know what you're doing.

If people understood the feelings I had when I first started they would laugh.
I spent many nights awake. My only support group was the naysayers. They wanted to see me fell so they could support their feelings. I hug the tree out back more than people will ever no. It took a lot for me to take the leap. But today I am proud I did.

that never succeed either. It's the group that never intend to take action but only dream about what it might be like to be successful. Some people just are unable to take a risk because of their life story.It is deeper than fear to fail; it is a systemic condition that just won't let them pull the trigger.

Tell 'em like it is. ALL you have to do is follow directions-the road has been laid out - follow it and stop making excuses.

Great post. Sometimes I ask myself how did we come up with the money to do this deal. We just do not give up. we ask different banks for loans, sell something we do not need right now like a boat. We buy houses that are 15k 14k that can be repaired and refied for 40k plus and rent them out and do it all over again. If you do not do something nothing will change.

I recommend reading Totally Fulfilled book by Dean if you still have that fear deep down inside you.

I remember when I first started... I was scared to death! But I was more scared of staying in the financial mess I was in! I had to weigh out what scared me more... losing everything or stepping into the unknown. That is when I decided to just DO IT AFRAID!!!!

You have to take action to succeed in real estate. I was having a hard time picking up the phone and calling people I don't know. So, I decided to let people call me and yes I was even still scared to answer my calls. But, lucky for me, I have had a really good responce rate from my advertising and so I had to talk to people. It's not near as hard as everyone thinks, you just have to do it if you want success. I have already put in one offer on a wholesale deal from probate and next week hopefully talking to another seller on a house I drove around and found. This is from about 100 direct mail advertising I've done. It CAN happen if you put things in action. Just do it, it took me a longg time to take action because of FEAR and it's not at all as scary as it seems. It just takes practice talking to people. I'm upfront and tell them exactly what I do and the rest is a deal or no deal. I still have FEAR but I try to learn from every seller I talk to. Randy, I know exactly what your talking about.

When I got started I was very excited about this business, I studied, read, learned all I could. I joined several REI clubs right away and started meeting people that were in my area actually doing deals. I joined the success academy and studied and took the ACTION steps required to get going.
One night I said to my wife, (we both will never forget that night) I have to stop being a student and get out and take action, I can't learn any more by reading, going to webinars, websites etc etc. NO other training is needed other than what the academy and Dean's books teach. I just needed to APPLY what I had learned. I was not going to be a professional student!!
I went out and started making offers, built up my marketing for buyers, sellers and meeting home owners, realtors, contractors. I was not afraid to make an idiot out of myself, what was the worst thing that could happen? I soon learned that I was not so dumb after all! I had learned the basics from Dean's books and the academy! I stopped being a student and was becoming an investor. Now I am learning new stuff every day in the actual business world.
Anyway I finally got an accepted offer(after 6 months on intensive study and taking action)For me that is when the FEAR set in, up to that point I had really enjoyed the learning and networking. The rejections I had experienced were taken as great learning opportunities and I did not repeat my mistakes. But now I had a property under contract with the need to perform in the REAL world. I lost sleep at night worrying about my earnest money and getting it back if I could not find a buyer. Long story short, I assigned the contract and made $1500, but the learning that took place was HUGE, far more valuable than the money and could not have been gained sitting at home in the grips of FEAR.
I still get a little nervous (FEAR) every time I get a property under contract. The alternative is to quit and go get a J.O.B. No thanks! There is risk involved in EVERY deal I do. If I don't take that risk and overcome the FEAR I might as well go apply at Wal-Mart!

Great post! Every day I am amazed at how RE has changed my life, and how grateful I am that I made the choice to step into and through all my fears to come out the other side to where I am now. Like you, when I started back in April 08, I had no one around me but nay sayers. But I knew that if I didnt go for this, I would be in the exact same place I was in for the rest of my life unless I won the lottery. I was working hard just to pay bills. So when I sold my house and took that money to invest with, I DID dream of really big things - but deep inside was that little devil trying to pull me down and make me doubt myself. I owe a great debt to Dean, the coaches and all of those who mentored and taught me and most of all SUPPORTED me on this site during those times. These forums were the only place of support I had back then. So I can say to all of you just starting out - BELIEVE! Listen, learn and TAKE ACTION and you WILL change your lives!!!

Only 1-2% of the population in the United States have what it takes to even attempt something out of the ordinary to create financial freedom. You can either be like everyone one else in the other 98% of the population, or be financially free and live like a rockstar (or whatever life you desire) in the top 2%.

If you ever have fear running through your system about something you want to do, that just means your onto something great!

And don't ever take advice from someone unless they are already successful with that in which you are seeking advice for!!!!!
